Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero - The Battle

By Mary

Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero

Yes…I own them all. You know what I’m talking about…. it’s the craze right now, Guitar Hero and Rock Band. ‘thew got me started last September. He knew about it before anyone. I own Guitar Hero 1, 2 & 3, as well as the new phenomenon Rock Band.

That is all my PS2 is good for.

For those of you living under a rock the last couple of cycles, Guitar Hero is a game in which you have a guitar plugged into your console as a controller and virtually play the guitar. It’s much more fun in person then it sounds. When Guitar Hero came out I remember being so excited to go to my brother’s house and play with him and my cousin. I owned right from the beginning, something that my brother says comes naturally because of playing the flute. Now all my friends make fun of me while I sit there rocking out on expert while they’re slowly catching up on medium level. Deal…Suckers.

Rock Band is just like guitar hero, except instead of being limited to playing with two people/one instrument, you can now incorporate four with random instruments. In Guitar Hero, you can only than one player, one guitar; one bass.

All the rage and everyone fights over who plays it. The drums are a set of quads that have four different colors along with a bass drum foot pedal.

My favorite?… hard to say, but I’m going to have to go with Guitar Hero. The guitar solos are just insane and the songs are ridiculous. My greatest moment of Guitar Hero, sitting on my couch with my brother, finally beating Free Bird on hard level in Guitar Hero 2. You would think Guitar Hero 3 would be better, but my true favorite is Guitar Hero 2. With artists like Kansas, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Guns N’ Roses and Lynyrd Skynyrd there’s a whole range.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m addicted to Rock Band as well. The drums are incredible. And when my best friend sings, it’s hilarious. However, since Guitar Hero focuses on just guitar instead of 4 different instruments, the guitar parts are much more challenging. Playing Rockband guitar on Expert is playing Guitar Hero 2 or 3 on hard. Either way, if you haven’t played either of these games yet, you’re missing out. It’s a great way to just hang around, or even at a party, I know even my sister, who is 25, does, so even though I am 16, age doesn’t matter. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are two great games.
